JET SALCEDO: A Premiere Avant-Garde Designer...Concepcion's Pride!

JET SALCEDO, the daught-son of the former Concepcion Matriarch, Elizabeth Salcedo and the powerful Sandy Salcedo, called me up to invite me to witness his fashion show in Roxas City this coming December 29, 2010.  I might be not that old, but you see, I also have witnessed how the ugly duckling came to grow as a beautiful Swan.  Though the person tends to be elitist at times or been dictated by his sophistication, as far as I know of, the person is undeniably Concepcion's Pride...beyond political lineage.  Jet Salcedo, indeed, made a name for himself hovering over the shadows of his family!
JET SALCEDO...An undeniable pride!

HOW DID IT STARTED?  I remember, I saw Jet before choosing unique fabrics in black, silver and bronze.  I found out based on my keen observation that Jet somehow tends to be attracted to the works of fashion icons like Gianni Versace, Laggerfields and some works of Vera Wang.  Mixing some principles on the icons work came out an original perspective in fashion. Lines so bold, texture too flaunting and more or less, striking with controlled snobbish---are the identification marks of Salcedo's workmanship.  All I know it started with the wide array of his "ukay" appreciation...changing it to trendy outfit for himself and close friends.

SALCEDO, A REVERED NAME IN ILOILO FASHION CIRCUIT.  When Robinson and some media patrners launched the Design Lab years ago, Jet Salcedo joined the competition submitting an Asian-fused collection wowing the crowd of fashion enthusiast.  He won the coveted prize as the year's winner and the next was history.  Jet Salcedo from a beautiful swan automatically becomes an epitome of amazement in the world of local fashion.  Though, sometimes, feared by some clienteles because of his glossy works, they just don't know that Jet's creations are, justly in a competitive price...in practical senses!

APPROPRIATE IN TIME.  Though, technically, Jet's creations interwove New Yorker's saga in fearless hues, the later designs of the swan is actually a reinforcement of  few-year experiences in his craft.  I have heard he even worked with the prestigious Federick Peralta (I was not able to get it right, kindly correct this info if my guessing is wrong!) but failed to market himself in the local market yet! Understandably because his standard of design captured the few who has the eyes for avant-garde fashion transcending the illumination of new fashion senses.  But still, I am hoping that one day, in an appropriate swan could have his works fly high beyond in an appropriate time...
The Show to behold this coming...December 29!
SEE HIM!  Watch and see what I am talking in a fashion show in Roxas City....ooops!  Its  Party with ELITE METRO ROXAS on December 29, 2010,  9PM at SOUL SUPERCLUB...VIP-STYLE!!!!!

EIZAA: The Promising Star

ALL WE KNOW SHE IS OUR PRINCESS. The little princess of the Tabuada-Tugbang Family turned 7 last November 27, 2010 but opted to celebrate her birthday on December 12, 2010, Sunday at Iloilo Grand Hotel! Actually the whole day was a carousel of events.  We took off from their house in Centennial Homes in Alta Tierra, Jaro, Iloilo City at around 8am.  The make-up artist arrived late that day.  Meliza Evalyn a.k.a Eizaa, the princess we are talking about, was so upset!  You see she wanted to have hair and make-over done on the dot. ( It is exemplary to see a girl so perfectionist! At that moment, I escaped momentarily to get the projector I needed for her party...the notebook as well.) I saw Tunggak, the family make-up artist, in the bakery as I was about to take off...
A Princess who is dependable of her actions, speech and even attitude...we can bank on her with poise and great bearing!
SIDE TRIP. I went to Andok's in Lapaz to fetch the equipments.  Well I saw Merchusi and all the dancers for the folkdance representing Concepcion. I was treated with a breakfast and did a little chat.  One hour or so, Manang Bebing called me up to proceed to Sarabia Manor Hotel for the Yamaha Recital...the Recital ( I will tell you later on what can I say about the Yamaha School of  Music)

RECITAL.  I arrived in Sarabia when it is about to start...Huh! I was shocked the whole production was a unprofessionally done...I was expecting since they are into Music thing, I mean, the Yamaha, it could have been done with such professional manner but it was not!  The teachers still doing follow-ups, the program sequence was not followed and worst, the technical people of the center were un-rehearsed! My God!  All the students paid thousand plus just to watch a great CIRCUS! I think they need to have a lecture on production savvy and all.  Anyway, our Princess Eizaa, changed costumes for almost six times with all the hairdo's and eklavu...what else I gonna say!  She can dance well and even sing better...(Ooops!  This is not a flattery on my case since she's my godchild! She is in fact can be put at stake, for all you know!) I kept hold of the camera and the next thing...it was done!  The recital finished without a hush...or even "glossiness". Should you have any chance of thinking to put your child in Yamaha, think again! I will not dare to let my child to do the process...it was sooooo...I am speechless!

ILOILO GRAND HOTEL ESCAPADE!  Eizaa arrived with all the enthusiasm.  I tried to rehearse her walk earlier and she did it well.  I even taught her how to waltz...and she did it fine and good!  As I tried to facilitate everything, Tunggak did the make-over!  The father was so anxious with everything when the clock stroke 4pm. Manang Bing was upstairs in our room fixing the two dainty fairies of her...

THE PARTY.  I prepared an AVP (Audio-Video Presentation) for Eizaa, but when Phoebo, her cousin, did the play it failed to work....Well, it was supposedly to be a regular party until Eizaa get the microphone from me and viola...the princess hosted and entertained her guests within her capacity...that made the party a day to remember for all of us...We have the 7 roses with the father as the opening dance and we have 7 wishes with the mother in a secret wishing...hay, I will always remember that day with all memories...

OOoops!  Try to browse her pix in Eizaa's FB account...its joevaneizaapj@gmail.com!  Happy birthday again dear princess!

THE TABUADAS' LOG HOUSE: A Pride...An Achievement...A Legacy!

September 11, 2010- I never expected that I will be  back here in Concepcion!  All I knew was, Miemie Tabuada sent me a ticket just to attend his son's birthday, Noynoy...whoola!  I was home and really I am.  The last time I went home the family provided me a Nipa hut to live in...but this time, Manong Boboy provided me a room in the new log house...The house is made of three levels one basement, one ground level and an attic!  It's really cool living in a house like this.  You see it is a pride for every member of the family considering that it is made our to real sweat from Canada.  The house was made by hard-earned money out of empanadas, batchoy and some popular Philippine breads...Nanay Mila actually was happy when she went back here in Concepcion for the blessing and all!  Guys here are some of the pictures of the house hope you could enjoy...To the Tabuadas thank you for being one of your adopted daught-son...charot!  All I know that the house is made as a legacy of a certain bonding that only the Tabuadas can make through thick and thin...for today, tomorrow and the next generation!  An achievement beyond stories of success from other land!

HERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF THE LOG HOUSE INSIDE...

Sitting outside the porch is like a dreamt life...in a dream unexpected!

The old kalesa drif wood sofa set with the bead curtain in the background carries one to a cowboy era or rather the time of the hacienderos...right here in Concepcion!
